He recognized that his atonement and forgiveness could only come from God. Alistair Begg illustrates this atonement, first described in Leviticus and then fully realized in Jesus. As David responded to forgiveness with praises to God, we too will be moved to worship when we have come before Christ in true confession and repentance.
