This WON'T Make You a Better Pilates Instructor 🙅🏻♀️❌ #pilatesinstructor #pilatestraining #shorts
Here’s what IS going to make you a better Pilates instructor…
1. KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid
You don’t have to constantly reinvent the wheel to keep clients engaged.
- Repetition is a good thing, it’s us that craves variety more than our students. Don’t be afraid of always teaching the same exercises, that’s how clients improve is with repeated exposure.
- If you teach multiple classes in a day try using the same basic plan for them all. With little tweaks to make the class suit the appropriate level. That way you’re planning 1 class not 5.
- Get inspiration from a TRUSTED source, not scrolling instagram. Go to a teacher your trust for class inspiration that’s legit.
2. Keep up your own personal practice 💪
This is a toughy - believe me I’ve been there! But staying on top of your game, experiencing what you’renteaching in your body & keeping your LOVE of Pilates alive is invaluable.
Ways to do this:
- Jump into a class at your studio
- Meet up with an instructor buddy & take turns teaching eachother
- Sneak in some me time to take yourself thru a workout
- Find an online resource with trusted Pilates classes like the RGP app to follow so you can turn off your teacher brain for an hour be a student again.
3. Never stop learning 🤓
Teacher training is an enormous part of our education, but it’s really just the start. As an instructor the kiss of death is getting stuck in your ways and failing to keep evolving.
What can we do:
- Keep up with continuing education, taking part in workshops & courses helps keep you relevant in where the industry is heading.
- Look outside of just Pilates education. Draw inspiration from other training methods like strength training, yoga etc. Movement isn’t one size fits all and broadening your horizon will serve you & your clients.
- Find a mentor. Mentors are a huge hack to success & can help you navigate this career with lived experience which is priceless.
