After the loss of Pride in 2007, several promotions attempted to set their stall as the main competition to the UFC, and no firm were more ambitious then California’s EliteXC.

Backed by heavy investment and a landmark TV deal, the company had the tools to be a major player in MMA, only for gross mismanagement and 14 seconds of madness to end the company for good.
