Making a wellpoint using a Baptist Auger

By far the easiest way to make a well-point is using pressurized water to displace the soil and work your way down. But in a severe drought like the one experienced in Cape Town 2018, using water simply wasn't an option! So drilling a well by hand was the way to go. I borrowed this so-called "Baptist Auger" from a mate, and we got going! We live in the flood-plane of a river, and had to work our way through some layers of clay and sand until we struck nice round, white river stones. And that was as far as we got! We achieved a overall depth of 3m with this modular system after being lucky enough to reach ground water at a depth of 2m (and this was during the worst part of the drought).
