Legendary NASA Flight Director Gene Kranz served as Flight Director for Apollo 11’s landing on the moon 50 years ago, then during the monumental effort to save the crew of the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission, for which he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. His famous blonde flat top and vests have made him one of the most recognized figures in the history of America's space program.

Prior to his famed career with NASA, Kranz served as a pilot in the United States Air Force, stationed in Korea.
