Wood Chips to Reduce Wildfire Risk and Build Soil

I use a wood chipper (until I broke it) to mulch dead branches around the cabin and the forest garden to reduce fire risk and increase water retention in the soil. The mulch is a temporary fire hazard but will quickly break down into soil as it absorbs rainfall, allowing me to plant bug repelling vegetation around the cabin.
