DCS: UH-1H Huey, Bradley Messing Around Meat Wave #dcs #dcsworld

🎖 DCS WORLD UH-1H Huey is less a high-tech killing machine and more an intimate, visceral experience of 1960s air combat. "Messing around" or running a gunship configuration in the Huey is all about low-level mayhem, relying on speed, maneuverability, and raw firepower rather than guided missiles.
Here is a description of the experience:
The Atmosphere
The moment you start the engine, you are greeted by the iconic, rhythmic thwap-thwap-thwap of the two-bladed rotor system, a sound that shakes your headset. The cockpit is "analog" in the truest sense—filled with steam gauges, flip switches, and no autopilot, demanding constant, hands-on attention. When you "mess around" you typically do so with the doors off, giving you an unobstructed view of the ground rushing by just dozens of feet below.
The Gunship Loadout
While typically a "slick" (utility troop transport), a gunship-configured Huey in DCS is packed with:
Dual M134 Miniguns: Steerable 7.62mm six-barrel rotaries controlled by the pilot or co-pilot, capable of spitting 4,000+ rounds per minute.
Rocket Pods: 2.75-inch FFAR rockets (7 or 19-shot pods) on the hardpoints, ideal for area suppression of light vehicles and infantry.
Door Gunners: AI (or human) crew-served M60 or .50 cal machine guns, covering the flanks.
