Live leaking cast iron pipe repair using CrackSeal Sealant holds 10 bar pressure

We sealed a live leaking cast iron pipe using CrackSeal Sealant - and then pressure tested the repair to 10 bar to see just how strong it was.

CrackSeal was extruded directly into the horizontal split in the cast iron pipe using a standard sealant gun whilst water was still leaking through. The sealant began to harden instantly, forming a solid material containing the leak. We had to work quickly to smooth CrackSeal off before it formed a skin.

The cast iron pipe repair was left for 24 hours to allow CrackSeal to reach maximum properties. We then increased pressure through the pipe to 10 bar. No water leaked through and there was no deformation of the sealant, indicating a successful application.

For added reinforcement, we wrapped the pipe with SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage. SylWrap has a fast-working water-activated resin. Within minutes, the composite wrap cured to form a rock hard, impact resistant protective shell across the entire pipe.

This made for a permanent solution with even greater pressure resistance beyond 10 bar.

CrackSeal Sealant and SylWrap HD Bandage can be purchased together in the SylWrap Cast Iron Pipe Repair Kit 👉 https://bit.ly/SCiPrK
