PELOTON Tread Relaunch after Recall | What's Different?

In a few days, starting August 30, 2021, Peloton will be relaunching its previously recalled Tread model, complete with a few changes I will discuss later in this video. With this launch, Peloton will now only offer ONE treadmill model, versus in the past, you could purchase the larger, more premium Tread+ OR the smaller, $2,000 less priced model regular Tread.

As you may know, Peloton’s Tread and Tread+ models were recalled in early 2020, affecting nearly 125,000 Tread+ units and offering fixes to 6,450 Treads. The lesser priced Tread (not Tread+) had a pre-launch that went out in limited quantities, largely in Canada.

Peloton’s Tread, not to be confused with the more expensive Traed+, was re-launched a few days ago on August 30, with a $2,495 retail price. What makes it different from its previous pre-launch version?

1. This tread requires a 4 digit safety code to unlock a new workout, known as the “Tread Lock” feature.
2. As with all treadmills on the market, there is a detachable physical safety key that should be removed and stored away from children and others who should not use the Tread when not in use

Details on this Tread:
- 3 Hp Motor with speeds speeds of 0 - 12.5 mph
- Incline from 0 - 12.5”
- Compact size, dimensions of 68” L x 33” W x 62” H
- Spacious, 59” long and 20” wide standard running belt
- 23.8” HD touchscreen with front-facing speakers that tilts 50 degrees
- Product weight is 290 lbs, and suitable for users of a height range of 4’11” - 6’4”, and supports up to 300 lbs
- Platform is carbon steel
- Belt is a woven nylon base with textured PVC top
- Handrail has a carbon steel with a soft-touch coating
- Tray is polycarbonate with rubber lining to securely hold 2 bottles and a few small items

Currently, owners of the Tread+ will have until November 6, 2022 for a full refund.
