Clay replaces a strobe tube, 990 feet.
Clay replaces a strobe tube at 990 feet in an Orga Hi-Intensity strobe system. This was the last tube of a bad batch of three. The tube he removed from this light was working but we were urged to replace it by the manufacturer. These tubes are long, awkward to handle, seemingly fragile and generally difficult to replace while hanging from a rope at 990 feet or any other height. The tube must be replaced horizontally. The manual shows someone replacing the tube, obviously on the ground, with the housing on its side. That's not real world. Often, removing an old tube causes it to break. The new tube costs over $1000.
