How to ship dangerous goods
►Step 1 - Choose the right box
The box should have specific markings on it outlining important information about the type of dangerous goods being shipped. The markings differ for each classification.
►Step 2 - Pack dangerous goods
Follow the relevant packing guidelines applicable to your shipment. The goods should be wrapped properly and any empty spaces in the box filled with packing material like vermiculite – this prevents the goods from moving around during transportation. Finally, make sure the box is properly sealed.
►Step 3 - Label dangerous goods
The box must be labeled with the right hazard symbols, warnings and safety information.
►Step 4 - Check dangerous goods documentation
Make sure the information on each document is correct. And when the driver comes to pick up your package, make sure you hand over all the documents.
