Extreme Trains at the Colorado Model Railroad Museum – “The Oil Cans”

Extreme Trains January 2018 at the Colorado Model Railroad Museum starring The Southern Pacific Oil Cans by Brent and Brian Milota. Other trains featured are:

I intended to put a complete description of the auto rack train in the video, but forgot and messed that up. Here are some of the stats on auto rack train. It has 16,700 prototype horsepower, is 4000 scale feet long, and weighs 1484 prototype tons. The locomotives are Athearn Genesis and Intermountain. The cars are from Walthers.

"The Oil Cans" was a tanker train that carried oil from Shell Oil Company’s Belridge field over the Tehachapi Mountains and across the LA Basin to its refinery at Carson near Long Beach. An interesting and informative article about this train can be found at
