From the rare Rolex Comex Submariner to a platinum President Day Date with an icy blue dial and the newest Oyster Perpetual reference 126000, our lineup this week has a little bit of something for every wrist and every budget.

Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 5711/1A-011
Patek announced during Watches and Wonders 2021 that the absolutely iconic Nautilus ref. 5711/1A would be completely discontinued after this year. That also includes the newest green dial variant that made its debut alongside the announcement of the model’s discontinuation. With that shocking news, the already elusive Nautilus has become even more sought-after on the secondary market.

You don’t have to join and decade-long waitlist to get your hands on one because we have a striking white dial example in stock right now. Patek produced the white dial ref. 5711/1A-011 from 2012 until 2020. It features black-trimmed hour markers and hands set against a handsome white dial. It also wears quite nicely on the wrist at just under 9mm thick and 40mm in diameter.

If you’re in the market for a serious investment piece, this is the watch to buy. Historically, the Nautilus 5711 has always been in high demand, and we expect that to only increase in the years following its complete discontinuation.

Rolex Presidential Day-Date 40 ref. 228206
Is there anything more iconic and powerful than a platinum Rolex watch? We think not! Rolex has only ever produced the Day-Date in precious metal. However, Platinum is a somewhat recent edition. Additionally, the Day-Date 40 is a newer member of the brand’s catalog, coming to market in 2015.

It houses Rolex’s newest Day-Date movement - cal. 3255 - which features a Double Quickset, longer 70-hour power reserve, and Paraflex shock absorbers. As a contemporary Rolex, reference 228206 also boasts every amenity available to the brand’s portfolio, including longer-lasting Chromalight lume, scratch-resistant sapphire, and 950 platinum forged in-house.

This Rolex President feels impressive on the wrist in solid platinum yet is still very wearable at 40mm in diameter. Our example pairs the lustrous white metal finish with a rather striking icy blue dial with a diagonal motif.

These watches are distinguished by a COMEX logo on the dial and are highly collectible on the pre-owned Rolex market. The partnership between the brands lasted until the 1990s, during which a total of nine Sea-Dweller and Submariner references were supplied to Comex, including the beloved ref. 16610.

Grand Seiko Heritage Collection ref. SBGJ201
It’s hard to convey just how beautiful the polished finish on the dial of the Grand Seiko ref. SBGJ201 truly is. It is inspired by Mt. Iwate, a mountain visible from the Shizuku-Ishi factory where Grand Seiko produces their mechanical watches and features a pattern resembling the ridges on said mountain.

Avid luxury watch collectors will also appreciate the striking blue GMT hand on the dial, which contrasts nicely without appearing too in-your-face. As with every Grand Seiko wristwatch, the attention to detail is simply remarkable, from the delicately faceted hour markers and hands to the curves of the case.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 ref. 126000
Our list concludes with a striking yellow dial example of the 2020 Rolex Oyster Perpetual. Just last year, Rolex unveiled a selection of colorful dial options for their Oyster Perpetual collection while quietly discontinuing the 39mm case option. Reference 126000 is the 36mm edition that pairs Oystersteel with a vibrant yellow dial.

As a newer model Rolex, ref. 126000 also features integration to the brand’s next-generation cal. 3230 movement with a longer 70-hour power reserve. It also features Chromalight plots on the dial, scratch-resistant sapphire, and Rolex’s proprietary 904L-grade Oystersteel. This watch is hot and currently commands well over retail. Rolex Cellini Prince ref. 5442
The Rolex Cellini Prince is one of the most unusual modern Rolex watches, although it is based on Rolex’s old “doctor’s watches” from the 1920s and 1930s. Released in 2005 as part of a series of 4 watches, the reference 5442 is the 18k Everose gold model that was released alongside a yellow gold version and two white gold editions.

Most unusual about these Cellini Prince watches is that they feature manual-wind movements and display casebacks. Additionally, the bridges of the movement are decorated with a motif that compliments the one engraved on the dial, and each of the 4 models from the Cellini Prince series feature different patterns.
