The National Archives Comes Alive: Young Learner’s Program—Meet Madam C. J. Walker, entrepreneur and civil rights advocate for African Americans. Madame C. J. Walker is portrayed by Dr. Daisy Century, actor, historian, interpreter and reenactor. Madame C. J. Walker was born Sarah Breedlove and was an early advocate who sought equality for African Americans. Madame Walker amassed her fortune through dedication, hard work, and innovation. As America’s first female self-made millionaire, she was a philanthropist who enthusiastically supported Black Colleges and Universities.
Question and Answer Session at the end of the program with Ms. A’Lelia Bundles, Madame C.J. Walker’s great great granddaughter. Ms. Bundles will answer questions and share information about her book: All About Madame C. J. Walker.
