How to install ubuntu linux on HP Stream 11

Instructions
Step 1 boot up your hp stream 11 and go to this link for instructions on how to create a bootable usb stick.

And ubuntu 14.10 64 bit here

I choose ubuntu 14.10 64 bit through trial and error this version automatically detects your wifi and touch pad drivers.

After making your bootable usb stick on a formated flash drive that is 2 gb or larger you can now follow this instructions to create a windows recovery usb on a usb flash drive 8gb or larger.

Now after creating a windows backup you can eject the thumb drive and put the thumb drive with your bootable version of ubuntu in the usb port.

Shut down the computer

Now when you turn the computer back on hit the esc button as soon as the back light turns on to enter boot options.

Hit the f9 key and select boot from usb stick then select install ubuntu linux.

Note on touch pad functionality: touch pad works well upon booting if you have problems use a usb mouse until fully installed. The touchpad will now be using one finger clicks for left click two finger taps for right click and dual finger scrolling. You can change touch pad functionality in the system settings menu later.

After launching the installer you will be brought to ubuntus desktop. Click on the wifi icon at the top of the screen and connect to wifi. Now follow ubuntus installation instructions and be sure to check the install third party software and install update marks. It is advisable to also be connected to power when doing this.

If you wish to install ubuntu only select the option to wipe the hard drives and install ubuntu. If you would like to dual boot alongside windows select that option now. Now follow the installation and you will have a fully usable highly portable Hp stream 11 ubuntu notebook.
