Future of Mining Australia 2019 - Keynote Q&A: Meeting the Needs of the Fourth Industrial Revolution
DAY2 0900 KEYNOTE Q&A: Meeting the Needs of the Fourth Industrial Revolution
Interviewer: Noel Dyson, Editor, Australia's Mining Monthly
Honourable Bill Johnson , MLA, Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Energy; Industrial Relations, Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Government of Western Australia
Western Australia is one of the world’s leading resources jurisdictions with over 130 years of mining history and commercial quantities of practically the whole periodic table. The advent of battery technologies provides Australia with the opportunity to seriously investigate, and pursue, downstream processing and extract more value from our raw materials. The time is now to develop new mines, pursue mineral processing and examine the manufacture of battery components and cells.
Western Australia’s resources sector is already leading the world in the adoption of the technologies that will drive our future societies. Autonomous vehicles, autonomous rail, robotics and remote operation centres are only some of the technologies used daily in Western Australia’s mining sector. Western Australia isn’t just the best place to find the technologies of tomorrow it is also the best place to source the materials for that technology.
