Sam Wilkinson - California Stars - live @ Off The Cuff - October 2018

The lyrics for California Stars were written by Woody Guthrie but, like many of his songs, never recorded by him. In the early 1990s his daughter, Nora, offered a number of unrecorded songs from Guthrie's archive to Billy Bragg and Wilco. The album, Mermaid Avenue, was released in 1998 and received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Album. The music for California Stars was written by Jeff Tweedy and Jay Bennett.

Sam Wilkinson was performing the song at Off The Cuff, a live music venue in Herne Hill, South London. The event was No ID, a showcase for SE London's young musicians, in October 2018.
