Kth Largest Element in an Array | Heap Approach Explained | DSA Heap Series

In this video, we solve the Kth Largest Element in an Array problem and understand why using a Heap (Priority Queue) is a much better approach than sorting.
Initially, I discuss the simple sorting idea:
Sort the array
Return the kth largest element directly
But the problem specifically mentions that we should try solving it without relying on sorting, which leads us to the optimal heap-based solution.

How a Min Heap helps maintain the k largest elements
Why the top of the Min Heap represents the kth largest element
Step-by-step insertion and removal process

Approach 1: Sorting Idea (Concept Only)
Sort the array
Return the element at the correct index
Time Complexity: O(n log n)
Approach 2: Heap / Priority Queue Approach
Maintain a Min Heap of size k
Remove smaller elements when heap size exceeds k
Final heap top gives the kth largest element
Time Complexity: O(n log k)
Space Complexity: O(k)
This is one of the most important heap interview problems and builds strong understanding of Priority Queues and optimization techniques.
