Spring Garden Tour || 2023 || Zone 6b ||

Hi there! I am a beginning gardener. I just like to putter around the yard. I like useful plants over ornamental ones and I grow vegetables too. This is a backyard and veggie patch I built on my own and I am slowly transforming over the years. I am digging here, I am digging there. I add a plant here and two over there. I don't have much of a goal except to learn how to garden - that is it. If something grows well, I keep growing it. If it fails, I may try again but no more than twice.
I live in Northern New Jersey (Zone 6b) and my soil is mostly clay. Not only does it retain water, I also have to drain the water out of it with a French Drain and trench I installed myself. Needless to say, I am doing my best with what I have and the little bit of knowledge I have acquired since 2019 when it all started.
This is my first garden tour for 2023 and there will be more. For now, I just want to give you the baseline and what I am starting with.
I also plan on a weekly series, filming myself gardening daily and compiling it all into one relaxing (no talking) video per week and throughout the season, so that you can see the progress I make. Once in a while, I will come up and talk about something in particular but I mostly want you to experience and enjoy my garden the way I do.
I am going to need a lot of encouragements here and you are welcome to share your advice and knowledge with me and other viewers.

however, and I can't believe I have to say this but here goes. Lately, people have taken all sorts of liberties in the comment section. If you feel the need to put me down by commenting something nasty and or discouraging in response to this video, know that I could not care less. I built this. It took me years, and there is nothing you can say that will make me feel less than. You damn right I am proud of where I am with this yard and we all have to start somewhere. There is constructive criticism and then there is plain ugly. So if you chose the latter, know that it won't matter one way or another. I am still going to scratch dirt, living my best life while listening to the birds. ❤️
