Nagorno-Karabakh conflict: Turkey criticizes international calls for ceasefire as death toll rises

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Tuesday criticized international efforts to tackle the Azerbaijan-Armenian conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, saying they had achieved nothing in nearly 30 years, saying a ceasefire alone would not be sufficient to end the fighting.

CCTV footage obtained by Turkey's state-run television TRT Haber purportedly showed the moment of a missile attack on Azerbaijan's second city of Ganja on Monday.

Turkey has condemned what it calls Armenian occupation of Azeri lands and vowed full solidarity with its ethnic Turkic kin in Azerbaijan. Ankara has repeatedly called on Yerevan to withdraw its troops from Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijan and Armenia have accused each other of attacking civilian areas and said the death toll was rising from the deadliest fighting in the South Caucasus for more than 25 years.
