DIY Overarm Pin Router | Full Build

First step of my homemade overarm pin router build was the router holder. In Italy you cannot go to your local trusty home depot (we don't have it) and find a router motor (or at least a decent powerful one), so I decided to mutilate this 1600W beast (it's a spare one) and give it a new life. The main problem was that the body is a cone shape so achieving a perfect fit seemed a tough challenge. I decided to build the holder directly around the router using a base of plywood, epoxy resin, fiberglass and flour. For the sled I found that plywood was not stiff enough so I made a metal reinforcement all around it. For the carriage system I used rectified 400 mm steel linear guides with bearings. Having no play was critical. I made the nut for the threaded rod with flour and epoxy as well. First I kept everything in place with some fiberglass strings and then I poured the epoxy flour mix. Once everything was cured it was only a matter of sanding back to the desired shape. The frame for the table was made with U profile iron cutted and welded. Being unable to make everything 100% perfect forced me to made everything adjustable. By tightening and loosening the bolts, the column is free to tilt in every direction. Every single little imperfection can be fine tuned. At this point perfect squareness was achievable. For the main insert I cutted a bit that I never used. It's shank was the exact diameter that I needed. Once all was nice and centred I kept it in place with some hot glue, flipped it over and used the epoxy flour mix once again. At the end the table was stained black and epoxyed. I'm 100% happy with the result. This thing is rock solid, dead accurate and at the moment that I uploded this video, I already (ab)used it for over a week. Used that thing intensively from morning to evening, every day.
