The Story ᓚᘏᗢ ➜
The World Beneath the Sky

Aevyra drifts through the upper atmosphere of Ilyrra-9, suspended above a planet that looks like a sleeping emerald eye. Beneath her, continents of forest curl around black inland seas. Vast fungal towers rise from the canopy like moonlit temples, their caps glowing blue-green in the dark.

She is carried by Thyrr-Vael, the antlered orbit beast, whose translucent circuit-wings ripple through the thin air. Each wingbeat causes sparks of moss-light to trail behind them.

Below, the Living Archive is still silent.

Above, the stars flicker like unread letters.

Aevyra opens her rib-gills and listens to the wind.

The wind whispers one phrase:

Over the Living Archive.

The First Moss Signal

The forest beneath them begins to glow.

Not all at once. First a single line of green light appears across a ridge. Then another line answers from a valley. Then thousands more ignite, spreading through the canopy in branching patterns.

The moss circuitry wakes.

From above, the planet no longer looks like wilderness. It becomes a living map: rivers flashing silver, mushroom groves pulsing amber, root networks forming spirals as large as cities.

Aevyra’s four lens-eyes rotate independently, reading the pattern.

The archive is not opening below them.

It is opening upward.

Thyrr-Vael banks left, following a glowing root-symbol that stretches across the forest like a command written by the planet’s own hand.

The Canopy Becomes a Page

The treetops peel open like the pages of a colossal book.

Leaves unfold into translucent sheets, each one showing a different memory: a crystal ocean under three moons, a fungal citadel blooming from an asteroid, a herd of glass-backed beasts walking across a lightning desert.

Aevyra reaches down with her root-filament fingers. She does not touch the leaves physically, but the memories rise toward her anyway.

The archive recognizes her species.

Her moss mantle blossoms with tiny lantern caps.

Thyrr-Vael snorts emerald vapor, and the floating moons inside its antlers spin faster.

Far below, something black moves between the glowing roots.

Aevyra sees it for less than a second.

A flower-shaped absence.

Then it vanishes.

The River of Written Light

They descend toward a river that flows across the top of the forest canopy instead of through the ground.

The river is made of liquid light. Glyphs swim inside it like silver fish. Every ripple becomes a sentence. Every eddy becomes a memory-loop.

Along its banks grow mushrooms with bell-shaped caps and transparent stems. Inside the stems are tiny storms, miniature auroras, and rotating blue crystals.

Aevyra leans from Thyrr-Vael’s back and allows one of her rib-gills to open fully.

The river speaks through her bones.

It tells her the archive is losing memories from its deepest layers. Something is eating the oldest stories before they can rise to the surface.

The river shows her the name of the wound:

Null Bloom.
