Premier Ford: Ontario requesting federal assistance for five long-term care homes – April 22, 2020

In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and provincial cabinet ministers Christine Elliott (health) and Dr. Merrilee Fullerton (long-term care) provide an update on their government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. In his remarks, Premier Ford announces that the province has formally asked the federal government for military and public-health personnel to assist in long-term care homes that are experiencing serious COVID-19 outbreaks. The premier also faces questions about the province’s timeline for easing restrictions that are in place to slow the spread of the virus.
