arivis Vision4D: 3D Direct Volume Rendering of a mouse lung
Light Sheet Fluorescence Microscopy (LSFM) is a cutting edge fluorescence microscopy technique with good optical sectioning capabilities and high speed image acquisition. Because LSFM scans samples by using a plane of light instead of a point (as in confocal microscopy), it can acquire images at speeds 100 to 1000 times faster than those offered by point-scanning methods. This method is used to view cells and whole living creatures. It is especially beneficial for lengthy observations of embryonic development because it is a less phototoxic compared to other imaging techniques. LSFM imaging produces images on the order of gigabytes to terabytes.
arivis InViewR can work with almost all types of 3D microscopy images, even huge ones, in virtual reality space. InViewR’s unique direct volume rendering does not require time consuming conversion of files to surface renderings. Thus structures can be instantly colored based on their densities (intensities) in the image and interactively visualized.
The movie is of a lung imaged via light sheet microscope. arivis InViewR allows exploration deep inside the structure to provide a new look at the organization of lung tissue.

For 360 Viewing without VR Hardware
This is a 360° video of actual VR rendered sample data to display on your computer or mobile phone. Notice that while the video is playing on YouTube website that your mouse becomes a hand while over the image. Press and hold the left mouse button and you can rotate the image any direction, 360 degrees, to look around you as you travel along the flight path!
For Mobile
The experience is even more impressive while watching the video on the YouTube App on your mobile device (tablet, phone). The application makes your mobile device the center of the image and uses the built in gyroscopes. Move your mobile device around your body to see the data surrounding you!
