ESP8266 PIR motion sensor & Adafruit IO - IFTTT - Tutorial Nodemcu Arduino

I hook up an ESP8266 wifi module, aka the Nodemcu ver 1.0, to a PIR motion sensor and when it is triggered by motion it uploads the signal to Adafruit IO and then a trigger alert is sent to IFTTT (If This Then That) which sends an alert to your phone letting you know that there was motion. You could hook it up to your mailbox to notify you when "you've got mail" or use it as part of a Do it Yourself alarm system.

UPDATE! When soldering the wire to the motion sensor, do NOT solder it to the middle terminal mentioned in this video and the other video I made
