MICHAEL SCHENKER (Fest) - interview @Linea Rock 2018 by Barbara Caserta

MICHAEL SCHENKER interviewed by BARBARA CASERTA of LINEA ROCK about “MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST”, the tour and now the album, the ultimate celebration of MSG gigantic talent and career, from its inspiration to its realization, a matter of freedom to the bone, healthy competition and always think positive… a happy journey he is very proud of! This legendary rock “Warrior” talks about collaborating with Robin McAuley, Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet, Dougy White, and being a Boss but demanding for partners to put own personalities in the music and give it all, to reach new horizons while always experimenting, in composing and playing… with four huge lead singers it can be dangerous, but worth the risk! An evolution with control! He also goes way back to UFO days (joys, problems and “that” free gift to Phil Mogg) and to some SCORPIONS nasty facts: he digs lot of the dirt here, like a river in flood, especially towards his brother Rudolf, a very shocking “fool the fools-story” in Michael’s own words, about stealing songs and that well-known Schenker V guitar design without a simple “thank you”. He defines Rudolf a “fame-addict willing to do anything you can to stand up there”, obsessed by Elvis Presley and wanted to be like him! But you need to hear the whole story in details… Anyways, Michael apparently would definitely collaborate again with Klaus Meine, in the name of rock’n’roll!!! He admits he has been naive but he would do it all again 'cos from his point of view he was in good faith, and he hopes his brother Rudolf will revalue the past thru the spirit of his younger son growing up. Then he shares memories about MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP experience (someway inspired by Jeff Beck, believe it or not), most recent TEMPLE OF ROCK project, and how working in a band can be a double edge sword. Mainly he focuses on the art of lead guitar as pure artistic self expression, and developing his own style, living it as a step by step progress taking as it comes, just to always surprise people and himself… and being an icon is something you can program someway or it comes naturally? He also tease us reflecting on the fact that 2018/2019 period marks a lot of other celebrations which could end up in so many other projects… enjoy and don’t miss the new record “Resurrection”, out on March 2nd 2018. On Nuclear Bast Records (and there’s a special incredible story also behind signing this deal with this company, and especially Mr Markus Staiger).
