Homayoun Sakhi is a master performer on Afghan rubab and a composer who brings together Eastern and Western musical languages and instruments. His composer credits include ‘Rainbow’, for Afghan rubab, Indian and Central Asian percussion, and string quartet. Faraz Minooei is a Tehran born, San Francisco based Santur player, educator and composer. Golnaz Khazel is a renowned percussionist from Iran who specialized in the Kurdish Daf tradition. Chloe Mendola is a cellist and educator and the recipient of many renowned grants and awards.
Music has an important place in the history of Afghanistan, a country that has a rich musical heritage full of celebrated poets, artists and musicians. Afghani's have suffered extreme stress and trauma during the 40 years of uninterrupted war, but music has been balm to people's hearts.
