Emergency Medicine in Pakistan - where do we stand right now?
Dr Junaid Mustafa, Consultant Emergency Medicine in Shifa Hospital, Islamabad discusses the current state of Emergency Medicine in Pakistan. From being a 'little known' specialty in the early 2000's, now Emergency Medicine in Pakistan is getting recognized by other hospital specialties as well as general public as being an important specialty. The early important work done at Aga Khan Hospital by renowned Emergency Physician Dr Razzak has been taken forward by Dr Junaid Mustafa and his team.
Now, Emergency Medicine in Pakistan has its own FCPS examination which is recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. We discuss with Dr Junaid Mustafa in this video the current training programme structure for physicians taking the route in Emergency Medicine.
Dr Junaid also shares his own struggles when he initially started in Emergency Medicine in Pakistan after coming from the United Kingdom. He also discusses briefly the differences of Emergency Medicine in the United Kingdom and Pakistan.
