Dutchman Inlay | ASMR Woodworking 4K | All Shop, No Talk | Craftsman Hand tools

Cracking, also known as checking, is a common occurrence as wood dries. This is particularly prevalent if the outside dries more quickly than the inside. Dutchmen inlays (aka butterflies/bowties, technically, 'dovetail keys') prevent this crack from spreading as the wood moves with time.
