Canva Text Mask - Canva tips 2020!
Canva text mask - it looks super-professional and complicated to create but believe me it's much easier than you think. In fact you can create a text mask for FREE in Canva in just a few minutes!
You may want to have some high resolution photos from a brand photoshoot ready to upload but if you don't have these then don't worry. Canva have a tonne of free resources to choose from or, failing that, you can pick some beautiful photos from Unsplash.
You can use any template size but for the purposes of this tutorial I chose an A4 document, since I wanted to create an eBook front page design.
To begin creating your text mask upload a suitable, high quality photo to your template. Try and keep things simple and uncluttered for a more striking effect.
Next search under "Elements" → "Frames" and scroll right down until you can see the letter frames.
Upload all the letters to spell a word that will form your text mask. I used the word "Relax" in my tutorial.
Now position the letter frames on your template. They don't have to be positioned horizontally; try arranging them vertically or even break the letters up. Be creative!
When that's done the fun will start!
You'll need to drag your original photo into each of these letters frames and match them exactly with the background. This can be tricky but practise and it will get easier. Take your time.
Once done you can now edit the background photo so that it's either lighter or darker than your letter frames. You can even remove the colour entirely (see my thumbnail image) so that only the letter frames have colour within them for a great contrast.
Now place your cursor into the letter frames and adjust the photo within the frames so that they contrast with the background and really pop.
Once you're done you can either download your beautiful design as it is. Alternatively upload it to Smartmockups (a Canva integration) and create an even more professional-looking product mockup.
