Young clarinetist, Joshua Choi, of New Jersey, began his studies at the age of eight with his father, SeungHo Choi. At the age of 11, he was accepted into The Juilliard School Pre-College Division under the tutelage of the late Laura Flax.
In 2015, he won the International Virtuoso Competition, and the CAI Competition the following year with a concerto performance with the NYLO at Queens College. In 2017 he won the Westchester Symphony Young Artist competition and got accepted to Curtis Summer Festival. In 2018 He won the Caprio Young artist competition and following summer he got in finalist at International Clarinet Association Festival in Belgium.
His solo debut recital was at Paul Hall in 2016 consisting works of Weber, Saint-Saens, and Rabaud. An avid chamber musician, he became a member of the Chamber Music of New York Youth Symphony since 2017 and second clarinetist of New York Youth Symphony. He won the Chamber Music Society in Lincoln Center of Young Artist as the only team from New Jersey.
Joshua currently studies with Ayako Oshima.
