‘Congress Ko Desh Ki Mahila Par Vishwas Nahi’, Smriti Irani Irani Hits Out At Opposition | BJP PC

Smriti Irani, senior BJP leader, strongly criticised the opposition parties during a press conference for blocking the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha. The bill, which aimed to provide 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies, failed to pass as it could not secure the required two-thirds majority.

With 298 votes in favour and 230 against on April 17, 2026, the Constitution Amendment Bill fell short of the needed support. While the opposition celebrated the outcome, BJP leaders condemned it as a betrayal of women's empowerment and vowed to take the issue to the people.
