Power Carved Wall Art For My Nephew

In this video I show you how I made this wall art piece for my nephew by power carving colored plywood. He wanted something along the lines of what his favorite artist Alex Grey would do. I am in no way Alex Grey, so I did my best with the skillset that I do have. The colored plywood in this piece is called Spectraply, they make several color options, and I chose their cotton candy version to get a more psychedelic feel closer to what my nephew wanted. I power carved my design using an angle grinder with a wood carving blade. After a lot of carving, I began the long process of sanding. With a finish of spray lacquer I thought I was done. My gut told me that something was missing and I asked around on instagram to see if this piece needed a frame. The overwhelming answer was yes, so I began to build the frame. I chose India ink as the frames finish after consulting with Bruce Ulrich. He told me all I needed to know about India ink, and it worked great. I'll link to his channel below. Thanks for watching.
