i went to a Ya Kun restaurant when i was in Singapore and tired for the first time, a traditional breakfast in Singapore. What i had was Kaya toast with soft boiled eggs and a good ol cup of (kopi) coffee. The toast had a thin slab of butter and a thick spread of kaya jam, it was served with a couple very soft boiled eggs , (which you're supposed to add white pepper and soy sauce to taste) and then you just dunk the kaya toast into the warm runny eggs.

If you're interested in how this originated - In the past many Hainanese chinese worked on british ships as cooks. When they settled in Singapore & Malaysaia, they adapted the food they served abroad these ships and introduced it into the communities they’d settled in., and replaced western jams with local coconut jams.
