Comica VM30 Wireless Shotgun Microphone Review: Say Goodbye to XLR Cables!
In this video I review the Comica VM30, a shotgun microphone with a built-in wireless transmitter.
I love the idea of being able to put a shotgun mic on a boom pole or desk top stand without any wires hanging off, but it also has a lot of other useful features.
You get a 75Hz or 150Hz low cut filter and high frequency boost, as well as a stepless gain adjustment knob.
The VM30 shotgun microphone also supports safety track recording in wired mode to avoid audio clipping in more dynamic scenarios. Yes, that means you can plug this mic directly into a camera or mobile device for direct mounted set ups.
Both the mic and receiver have screens for ease of use, and the receiver is also USB-C rechargable, and includes a headphone monitoring jack alongside the 3.5mm audio output port.
The microphone is made completely of metal and is extremely lightweight for its size, but none of that matters unless it sounds good too. Good thing I've got audio samples in a few common setups towards the end of the video...
Oh, and if you see this mic referred to as the CVM-VM30, it's the same thing, they changed the official name to just "VM30" before release.
