Rev It Up Automotive brings my 1965 Mustang Convertible to LIFE!
Starting this restoration project in January 2023, my Uncle Larry and my Dad recommended that I use James Jacob at Rev It Up Automotive to start the process of getting the car starting and stopping.
It's been 5 months, and we have done an incredible amount of work to my family's 1965 Mustang Convertible and NOW it's time to hear her run for the very first time.
Working with James, his son Gage, and Rob has been an absolute treat. It is sometimes strange to be working and some kid shows up with a camera asking to film every little aspect, but they did not mind.
Some of the things that I had personally got to document were not necessarily the exciting parts of the restoration. LOL they gave me and my dad the dirty jobs to help cut some of the costs of labor, so I did a bunch of wire brushing and rust preventative painting with my pops.
Rev It Up had done: disassembled the car, removed sickly 289, full floor pan replacement, new brake lines, fuel lines, replaced battery apron, kick panel, fuel tank, inspected rear drum brakes, restored rear axle, installed disk brake conversion for the front with new brake booster and master cylinder, installed doner 289 (thanks Larry), installed T5 transmission conversion, donated hardened heads, donated Shelby air filter, donated spark plugs firing unit, installed new wiring harness, restored heater box, applied the sound deadening to the floor pan, and much more that go unlisted for the sake of time.
Where do we go from here?
Well we need to get the car moving and stopping under it's own power then it is off to find a sheet metal shop to do the cowl, rear quarters, and the trunk drip railing. I am looking at potentially bringing the car to a shop here in FL, or using my uncle Larry's recommendation in MS. Stay tuned!
