Mangalore to Goa - Konkan Journey - Bridges, Rivers, Scenery, Monsoon and More!!!

This is a journey compilation of a ride that I did in the beginning of July 2018 from origin to destination on board the 22636 Mangalore Central - Madgaon Junction Intercity Express.
The train is a tiny 8 coach train and runs empty most of the time. My friends and I had reserved seats in the Non-AC Chair Car coach, but we could have easily gone in Unreserved also without any complications. Majority of the 2 reserved coaches (D1 and D2) were completely empty.

On the day of my journey, the train was hauled by a WDM-3A locomotive from Ernakulam (ERS) shed (numbered 18700). Short 8 coach trains are nothing for these diesel locomotives. So it was really a nice and quick run. We boarded the train at Mangalore Central.
At 08:15 am sharp, it departed bang on time. And inspite of being held up for few crossings along the way, and being delayed by almost half an hour, we still made it to Madgaon 20 minutes before time, due to the amount of slack given in the Monsoon Timetable of the Konkan Railway trains.

So watch as we skip stations, cruise through the open plains at 100 kmph, cross other trains, stop for other trains to cross, go over the beautiful river bridges and through the dark tunnels.
