Supercharged 76mm M1A2 vs Ferdinand armor version | Armor Penetration Simulation

Simulation of a M4A3 (76) Sherman projectile hitting the frontal armor of Panzerjager Tiger (P).

The simulation assumes the use of a supercharged shot. M2 powder was used experimentally for 76mm M1A2 gun.

The target is one of the Ferdinand armor proposals

76mm M93 APCR (4.2kg, 1.8kg tungsten carbide core) at 1060 m/s

vs

Ferdinand (version) hull front armor (80mm at 55 degrees + 100mmm RHA at 9 degrees)

76mm M1A2 M2 powder muzzle velocity (APCR) - 1125 m/s. 1060 m/s refers to a distance of approximately 0.35 km.

The end of the simulation is determined by the energy graph. This means that the remaining projectile energy was absorbed by the armor and only low-energy spall remained in the motion.
