Sugess - 1963 Chronograph - Unboxing - Reverse Panda Dial - It's A Real Looker!

I thought it was time to add one of these Sugess - Seagull 1901 equipped pilot chronographs to my collection. I scoured Aliexpress and Amazon for days. The 'legit' ones, I think are ridiculously expensive. No sapphire or nothin'. I don't have a particular fascination with chronograph watches.. I don't even have an interest in them, per se.... Other than I am fascinated by the movements.. The machines. I can be a minimalist in my taste of dials.. I need only one thing from a timepiece... To have it be able to tell me the time.... Obviously. If I need a stopwatch, I will use a stopwatch. These watches caught my eye though. This Sugess 1963 ticked all the boxes. Stylish... Attractive... Iconic... And not prohibitively and unjustifiably expensive. Mostly though, as I am sure most would agree, is that the biggest reason to buy these watches are simply, to look at them. Front.. Back and sides.

Super long and skinny, lume equipped hour and minute hands. Red tipped chrono hand with a Communist Star(Zenith?) counter balance , also with lume. Applied 'Red Star' logo telling you this is still an homage to the original Sea-Gull Military Pilot's Chronograph..... but again, at a third of the price, but not being the sole reason.. I thought the reverse panda was the best looking of the bunch and the price was merely a bonus. I do believe I made the right choice... 'cause this watch is a looker!

Just a few considerations... Too much space between the case and the strap. The lug holes need to be drilled a little further in, I think. The strap is ok... It's not bad.. It's not great. As soon as I find a better replacement, this one will be re-homed onto a Komandirskie. The crown needs to be a bit bigger. It's uncomfortable to wind. Speaking of crowns..... Isn't it time for a crown revolution? I think a new, across the board standard is due. My suggestion is this... A spring-loaded push/push crown that when not use, is flush with the case.. Push it in to have it pop out for winding and setting then push in again to conceal... There you go, Watch Universe...... Make it so.
