Global CKtizens Ep 42:A conversation with a TCK coach (Megan Norton)

My guest today is Ms Megan Norton,MA,MA. Megan is an intercultural specialist and trainer who has lived in ten countries, 5 U.S. states and has visited over 30 countries. Megan holds a Master of Arts in Intercultural and International Communication from American University and a Master of Arts in Strategic and Business Communication from The American College of Greece. She has applied these two degrees in different ways over the past ten years specifically in the Third Culture Kid mentoring space. She has presented her TCK research at multiple conferences including FIGT, SIETAR-USA, NAFSA, IMI, and CIES. As an independent consultant, she works for TCK-centric nonprofits to develop and deliver their TCK programming. Currently, she splits her time between two non-profits: the one she co-founded called “Intercultural Transitions” and one called “Kaleidoscope.”

Cultural Trivia:
Did you know, Israeli grinds to a halt for Yom Kippur—the day of atonement, annually. For secular urban Israelis, it’s a great day to ride your bike with your family on the empty streets, driving a car is considered socially taboo on this day. And in Poland, on the final Thursday before Lent each year, the Polish people celebrate Tłusty Czwartek (Fat Thursday). This is the last chance to overindulge in tasty treats that shouldn’t really be consumed during the Christian Lent festival. On this day, all over Poland, people eat their favourite sweet and sugary snacks. such as Pączki a Polish-style doughnut normally filled with rose or raspberry jam. Another popular treat that the Polish love to eat on Fat Thursday is Faworki, pieces of fried pastry dipped in a sugary coating.
