FACEBOOK GROUPS
You can search for digital nomad and expat groups in cities all around the world to learn more about living in that place. These groups often have info about housing options too. You can also search “[city name] housing” or “[city name] apartments” to find short-term rentals.

LOCAL RENTALS
If you’re already on the ground in a place and you know you want to stay longer, look for “For Rent” signs in the neighborhoods you like. You can also search local real estate websites (turn your VPN off and Google Translate is your friend). Be aware of local laws with this option.

LONG-TERM HOTELS & GUESTHOUSES
If you’re traveling off the beaten path, guesthouses may be your best option. You can negotiate a monthly rate up front with the owner that will work out well for both of you.

FRIENDS' RECOMMENDATIONS
Keep in touch with friends you meet during your travels and share advice on where to stay!

WORKAWAY
We haven't tried this yet, but have friends who recommend it. You do a few hours of work per day in exchange for room and board. If you've used Workaway, please share your experience in the comments!
