ESCAPE TO THE FLORIDA KEYS - DOING THE KEYS OUR WAY - VAN LIFE AT JOHN PENNEKAMP STATE PARK

The Florida Keys are so hyped up... seems everyone dreams of going there. But with all that hype can it even come close to living up to your expectations? Even during a pandemic? Our way of experiencing the Keys may not be for you and we’re certain it’s not for everyone. But, we love to live a laid-back, relaxing lifestyle and just because we were in the place where everyone goes to party and have fun didn’t mean that we wanted to change the way we enjoy our time. So we took in the Keys our way... laid back... relaxing... hike... biking... and lots of time out on the kayak trails in the crystal blue water that makes the Keys so famous.

Van life in a Revel for is a great place to do the things to do in Florida Keys. What to do in Key Largo? Well John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is great option both for camping and exploring. Kayaking John Pennekamp State Park is easily one of our favorite kayak trails in Florida.

Our trip started out on the Tamiami Trail Highway 41 where we spent a great night at Midway Campground. Big Cypress National Preserve, better known as simply Big Cypress is home to thousands of alligators, birds and wildlife. It was so beautiful it made us wish we'd stayed did a longer camping trip in our Winnebago Revel.

We woke up early and took a sunrise drive across the state to Homestead, Miami and then finally, beautiful Key Largo.
