Exam results U-turn too late for students who lost university places

While many cheered when the government said students would be awarded the A-level grades predicted by their teachers, the announcement came too late for some who have already lost their university places.

Will Lloyd had a place to study medicine, but he may have to wait an extra year to start his course.

Opposition MPs said the problem had been flagged weeks ago and could have been addressed much sooner.
