Mugsy, Young Working Border Collie Sheepdog in Training
Mugsy, #bordercollie wanted to work #sheep early on and so I started him. I worked him only a couple of times and then, he decided running on the farm stalking his mother and the other dogs was much more fun. It took all his drive off the sheep. I separated him from the other dogs and put him in my yard and forbid him from having any contact with sheep or dogs that would let him stalk and head them. After 3 months, I tried him again. This is his 3rd time on sheep. He's not the only dog I've had stop working when they find something else to fixate on. Caninesnewe.com trainer, Jennifer Clark-Ewers of Arkansas gave me the above advice which I've followed for years; it works. #natalieredding #namastefarms
