Audi A5 Rear Main Seal Replacement DIY | Transmission Reinstall + First Start

In Part 2 of this 2-part series, I finish replacing the rear main seal (RMS) on my son's 2013 Audi A5 Quattro 2.0T.

This job required removing the transmission, which sounds intimidating — but as a 100% Certified Amateur, I wanted to see if this repair could realistically be done in a home garage without professional training.

• Installing the 034Motorsport rear main seal upgrade
• Reinstalling the transmission and drivetrain components
• Reinstalling the starter and torqueing everything to spec
• Replacing the diverter valve while I'm in there
• Tips for transmission cooler lines and reassembly pitfalls
• The first startup after the repair

Rear main seal leaks are a very common issue on Audi / VW 2.0 TFSI engines, and shops often quote $2,000+ because the transmission has to come out.

The goal of this project was simple:

Can a DIY amateur mechanic complete this repair at home and save thousands of dollars?
