UPDATED: MAKE YOUR CV AMAZING! - STUDENT CV TIPS | Sophie Lily
This is an updated version of a video I made a couple of years ago with my best tips for students when making a CV. This is best suited for graduates who are looking for a job out of university or students in sixth-form college. I hope you all find them useful!

All the tips are below:
Personal profile:
• Personal details: Name, phone number, email address, LinkedIn, website, blog. (Do not include date of birth, and use a formal email address)
• A couple concise sentences about yourself.
• Try to make it more specific to the job description.
Work experience:
• Roles you’ve had in reverse chronological order.
• Company, job title, dates you had it and a little info about each.
• Be picky, and if you’ve had lots of jobs only choose the relevant ones.
• Include stats, things you did in the role, highlights, or things you learnt.
Education:
• GCSEs, A Levels, any other past qualifications, predicted grades, average grades from your current year of university.
Other:
• Personal interests, hobbies, extracurriculars, volunteering, sports achievements, extra skills.
• Reflect some of your character
References - don’t need to include them but say they are available if they are needed.
Extra tips:
• CV needs to have a purpose – get in the head of who you are talking to and think about what they want to see.
• Make sure everything you put in has a role to play, don’t include fluff.
• 2 pages max.
• Showcase yourself.
• Make sure it has the right tone to represent you as a person but also to reflect the type of job you’re going for.
• Cater it to each employer, look at the job description and the skills they want and find evidence of how you’ve used these skills.
• Trigger words – use the employer’s language but don’t make it too obvious.
• Uniform formatting.
• Proof read and spell check it. Maybe give it to someone else you trust to do the same.
