SONG OF ALGERIA 200% Larbi Dida(العربي ديدا) - Orchestre National de Barbes native of "Sidi Bel Abbes", Larbi Dida is first singer of the fabulous (Raina Rai), one of the first Algerian group to mix rock and rai. Based in France since 1989, Dida will join the Orchestre National de Barbès his friend Youssef Boukella (former bassist T34). In 2008, he released Malhoum and began a solo career.
It is a traditional Algerian music several variants after the Oran. We find this music accompanied by a war dance in Tlemcen, Nedroma, GHAZAOUET, maghnia (the arfaa of Msirda Zemmar with the warrior dance comes from Msirda!). The ancient war dance(ALAOUI عْلاوي) is done by movements of the shoulders to the rhythm of drums and clapping feet to show commitment to the EARTH, also to show their endurance capacity and indissoluble unity against the enemy (La France colonial) with a cane by hand or rifle.
Popular song over by the Orchestre National de Barbès group revisited and offers a modern version. If you have the chance to go to Tlemcen one day you will see this dance in traditional costume.(In Morocco, there is a similar music called Reggada)
