Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel laureate, human rights activist and a driving force behind South Africa’s anti-apartheid movement, died on December 26, 2021, at the age of 90. Tutu is known for the compassion, integrity and humour he showed during his decades-long non-violent struggle against apartheid – which he was honoured for with a Nobel Peace Prize in 1984.
