How Bailey's Twist Complicates Nolan's Mistake In the Rookie Season 7 Episode 6

The Rookie finally reveals Bailey's interaction with Malvado, but Nolan's unavoidable response only serves to highlight his own error. In "Til Death" (episode 5) of season 7, the protagonists in The Rookie faced two threats. Nolan and Bailey had to contend with the return of Nyla's violent ex-husband, Jason, as she faced off against a suspected serial killer. He lost control of the situation after he kidnapped Bailey. After being attacked several times, Bailey retaliated and caused Jason's car to crash.

The Rookie season 7 antagonist was forced to escape with his accomplice, Drew, as Nolan's police backup arrived on the scene. Even though they followed Drew's phone, it was too late for Nolan to catch her or Jason before assassin Malvado intervened and killed them both. Later, Nolan was even more shocked to learn that Bailey had been helping Malvado. However, Nolan's response could come across as quite hypocritical.
On the one hand, Nolan's disappointment makes sense. He was a fugitive from justice and a notorious criminal, and his wife actively helped and assisted him. Bailey might now be viewed as an accessory to murder in the eyes of the law that Nolan so passionately upholds. However, Malvado was only able to escape due to Nolan's own carelessness and stupid errors in "Out Of Pocket," the third episode of season seven of The Rookie.
