ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
When a dog is being exercised well daily, it becomes a whole different story. Now they're more mentally focused, satisfied and drained of anxiety built up while your away from them.

And with this in mind here's 7 ways play and exercise promotes vibrant mental and physical health in your dog.

1 Stimulating walks, run-offs, games of fetch and tug create a strong bond with you. When you return from such exercise and spend a moment or two fully engaged with your dog eye to eye, you both feel the bond and you both receive strong mental stimulus, a win win.

2 Along the walk you can use situations to train your dog such as crossing roads, passing other dogs, meeting people and so on. This really keeps your dogs mind stimulated, focused, alert and happy.

3 Tug is a very stimulating exercise for a dog and releases a lot of primordial urges, which is a good thing. Fetch also releases that inner need for a dog to chase down prey and provides heightened satisfaction.

4 Exercise that really makes your dog pant and takes them beyond normal human walking pace, releases hormones that stimulate wellbeing, satisfaction and emotional harmony. Now you have a dog that is largely at peace with itself and can relax in the evenings, bathing in all those happy hormones.

5 Dogs are informed by how they feel, not how they think because they live in the present moment. Their reactions to life and all its stimulus come from feeling a reaction somewhere in their body. That's why a dog can surprise itself when it lets off a noisy fart. The dog's not thinking about the brewing gas and its release, they're simply startled by the end result as they feel it happening.

6 Dogs love stimulus, they're fast paced metabolically and need constantly stimulating input. This means walks are bursting with opportunities for smelling other dogs calling cards, checking out lampposts and picking up wafting scents with their powerful nasal receptors 200, 000 times more sensitive than ours.

7 Dogs are social beings. They love to meet and greet others. Being out on the metaphorical hunt with you is as good as it gets, as your dogs mind is active from all the incoming stimulus it's body is picking up.

Play and exercise are vital to your dog, as vital as quality nutrition such as a healthier kibble diet, home cooked or raw food diet.

And as a side note: If you feed a kibble only diet and your dog has any day to day chronic health problems, check out my video on the healthier kibble diet in the description above.

If you've let slip your dogs exercise requirements, have a re-think and double up on a plan of action to give your dog something exciting to do physically every day, even if it's tug in the back yard for 20 minutes.
